Myleene proved a massive hit presenting the show and leading the audience in the singing of old favourites during last year’s concert. Myleene said: “There’s always a really special feeling around Christmas time and so I’m excited to be part of this again. The atmosphere was electric and I know the Christmas spirit will be well and truly alive and kicking this year.”
As announced in June, Raymond Gubbay, the classical spectacular impresario, will return to The O2 this December with a second Christmas Spectacular. Presented in association with Daily Mail, the event on Thursday 23rd December will be a rousing night of carols, traditional tunes and some cracking Christmas number ones.
Anthony Inglis will conduct the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in this Christmas extravaganza which will also feature Rhydian Roberts and Ruthie Henshall, Wynne Evans, Alison Jiear, the Royal Choral Society and Capital Voices. The concert will be all the public have come to expect of Gubbay’s productions with light displays, special effects and an indoor firework finale.
Raymond Gubbay commented: ‘I am delighted to be returning to The O2 with my Christmas Spectacular. Last year proved that an audience of 20,000 certainly creates an incredible atmosphere in which to celebrate Christmas – I am sure this year will be even more enchanting and impressive.”
David Campbell, Chief Executive of AEG Europe, owners and operators of The O2, said: ‘Raymond Gubbay is a tour de force and I am thrilled he will be bringing his Christmas production back to The O2. Myleene tonight finished off her last show on The Gcap One Network, and would just like to wish everyone who listened to the show a big "Thank you" for the support during her year on the Sunday evening slot, she really enjoyed every moment of it. Special thanks to everyone who texted in and took part in Myleene and Matts antics!
Baby Ava joined Myleene in the studio for the final show along with Christopher Biggins as they reminisced about their experiences in the jungle, as well as plan Myleene's 30th birthday party in April before being presented with flowers and champagne to close the show.
While Myleene has left the Sunday evening slot, you can still catch her on Classic FM every Saturday and Sunday, details of which can be found in the radio section.
