LK Today, Lorraine Kelly's daily celebrity and lifestyle TV show, has announced the winners of the LK Today and The Perfume Shop’s High Street Fashion Awards 2008.
The award of the night - ‘Best Dressed Celebrity’ - was scooped by the quirky and stylish Kelly Osbourne who was voted for by customers of The Perfume Shop. Over 2000 people voted through The Perfume Shop’s nationwide chain of 165 stores. Kelly beat off strong competition from the likes of Alexa Chung, Lliy Allen, and Fearne Cotton. Kelly took the crown from last year’s winner Coleen McLoughlin.
Kelly said: “I’m really honoured to have won this award – especially because I’ve loved LK Today since I was at school. Every time I heard the theme tune come on I knew I got to miss a day off school! I don’t really follow any trends, but just put on what makes me feel good – and I think that’s the best advice you could give anyone. Don’t be afraid to express yourself and that’s what I find so brilliant about Britain, the clothes you can find in our high streets I think are the best in the world. ”
The glamorous night brought the UK’s top movers and shakers out in full force with Kelly Osbourne, Davina Taylor, Meg Matthews and Konnie Huq and the GMTV stars helping the winners to celebrate their triumphs and show their support for the British High Street.
Another surprise of the night was Top Shop beating H&M to the ‘Best Trendsetter’ award. Top Shop also beat off strong competition from other category nominees - Zara and Warehouse. The coveted ‘Best Value’ award was a fierce category seeing Primark take the award for its fantastic budget clothing range piping Uniglo, Matalan and George to the post.
Debenhams came out top for the ‘Best Department Store’ award, thrashing Selfridges, M&S and House of Fraser. Other commendable champions included New Look who took the award for ‘Best Shoe’ for the second year running and Simply Be for ‘Best Plus Size’ and River Island for ‘Best Jeans’.
The award winners were chosen by LK Today and GMTV viewers who voted in their thousands for their favourite stores in each category with voting taking place through the website - www.gm.tv. The Awards, which are now in their 4th year, are widely seen in the industry as the Oscars of high street fashion!
